006 Information Literacy (Laboratory)
(Ps. this is not an academic post, it's more of a journal for my MIL class)
DAY 6 - 11/23/17
"Knowledge is Power"
Knowledge is power because our society as of the present is an information society. Most of our decisions in life can rely on and be based on the information we receive. From buying clothes to picking a university. Information is the greatest thing a person can ever have because who hold the most information has the power to control and manipulate the world.
How does information become knowledge?
Information becomes knowledge when we apply it in our lives and use it in our life. Information becomes knowledge when we make it our own when we make it a personal knowledge.
What is the importance of giving credit to the source of one's work?
Giving credit to the source of one's work is important because first, by giving credit you are acknowledging the time, efforts and hard work of the person. Secondly, you are showing your respect towards the rights of the authors/creators and also to yourself as a fellow author etc. It also a way to protect yourself from possible legal concerns.
"Academic Trip"
An Information Literate Individual
An Information literate individual uses their knowledge they had attained wisely, effectively and responsibly. They are critical thinkers who deal with the information they receive through media with an open-mind especially with the circulation of false news. They are able to use the information they receive, though different media platform, as a way to improve and develop themselves and the society that they are part of. They always act accordingly and have proper attitude and behavior while interacting with people and while dealing with information. They do not instigate the circulation of false information, bullying, oppression, hate, etc. through media. And they use their freedom responsibly.
